Looking forward to this week! A quick poll. Have any of you seen the following? I feel like there may be a few (though hopefully not all) that some have seen. Any vote on which to watch?
- Fish Tank (aw it a few years ago and liked it)
- A Serious Man (I haven't seen it, but want to...)
- Incendies (I haven't seen it, but want to...)
- Vera Drake (I haven't seen it, but want to...)
A bit about each:
Fish Tank is a dark British coming-of-age story from 2009. A Serious Man (as you probably already know) is a dark, 2009 Coen Brothers comedy that I regret to say I've never watched. It's about faith/the questioning of faith. Incendies is a Canadian mystery/drama adapted from Wajdi Mouawad's play (of the same name) – it's about uncovering the mystery and details of the main characters' (who are twins) mother's life. Vera Drake is a British drama about the story of a working-class woman in London in 1950 who performs illegal abortions.
Let me know what sounds good to you, if any. I have a lot more on the list if none of these make the cut.
Otherwise, details as follows:Thursday, December 4
7:30pm at House Garry
Pizza will be served; bring booze
My first choice would be serious man, but any of these sound worth the watch. (Dawson's too right guys? right? RIGHT?!?)
ReplyDeleteI can't make it, but I have seen A Serious Man, which while funny and dark as everything else they make, was their weakest recent film. More of a Woody Allen style of humor.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the first two films on the list.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen any of these and they all look good to me. I think my first choice is Incendies, but I am good with any of them. And, for Ben, but not because I really, really want to, I'll agree to watch a DC.
ReplyDeleteIn light of the above, i change my vote to Incendies.
ReplyDeleteIncendies gets my vote, as does Dawson's, always and forever
ReplyDeleteYou got it, folks! Incendies it is. I have no idea if it's good/bad/whatever, but it's been on my list. I'm going to go Rory-style and watch it for the first time Thurs. See you all then.
